Parents and Guardians,
Knoxville Schools and the surrounding communities have seen a significant uptick in Influenza A, Influenza B, and COVID. Some symptoms consistently seen are persistent headache, GI issues, sore throat, and exhaustion, among others.
If your students are not feeling well, please take this seriously. Please keep ill students home 24 hours after their fever breaks without medication, or 24 hours past the last time they vomit or have diarrhea.
Although there are no treatments for Influenza or COVID, seeing a provider for confirmation can also assist in knowing when a child should return to school.
Our current COVID protocol is that the student should quarantine for 5 days, and then mask for 5 days. Influenza is a bit different as student symptoms differ.
During this season, if you have any questions as to whether your child should be at school or at home, do not hesitate to reach out to the Knoxville Health Staff. We are happy to assist.
